Still milling flour today, this beautiful mill is well worth taking five minutes to listen to the water. You might even be lucky enough to spot the local otter!

Now run as a museum and a working flour mill. The current building dates back to 1650 but there has been a mill here since at least 1016. Open seasonally so call 01258 471 878 to check. March to Sep open Mon, Thurs, Sat and Sun from 11:00 - 17:00.

Grade II, Tower C15, chancel 1874, nave 1875. Chancel by Ewan Christian, nave by G R Crickmay. All that remains of the old church is the 15th century tower and a Norman arch. The church organ used to be a fairground organ.

Running alongside the River Piddle, Alton Pancras is a small village with its church dedicated to St. Pancras. Little features remain from the 15th century when the church was built however its organ has an interesting history, having been originally a fairground organ, and thus has a different tone from most church organs.

Great coffee/snack stop

Nestled in the Dorset Downs, the village of Plush is a serene and picturesque location. With thatched cottages and an old church, hiking through here is like stepping back in time. With wonderful rooms as well as a simple and delicious menu, this is the type of inn that people return to time and time again.

This stunning 17th-century manor house was the inspiration for Weatherbury Farm in Thomas Hardy's famous novel, 'Far From the Madding Crowd'. A Grade I-listed building, the manor has undergone significant renovations through the centuries.
