After the devastating Coventry Blitz on November 14, 1940, the Goodrest Anti-Aircraft Battery came into existence. This defensive installation marked the final layer of protection for Coventry, providing shelter for both soldiers and women from the Auxiliary Territorial Service. As the war progressed, the site took on new roles, transforming into a prisoner of war camp first for Italian and then for German captives. Although the battery now sits on private farmland, you can catch a decent view of it from the nearby footpath.

Well worth a visit nice walk up and down takes about 2 hours

Cosy venue for breakfast, light meals, cakes and afternoon tea, plus waterside outdoor seating. Opening hours: 9am - 4pm daily.

The Hatton locks consists of 21 locks with a total rise of 45m.

Hatton Lock No 29 is a minor waterways place on the Grand Union Canal (Warwick and Birmingham Canal: widened section - Main Line) between Budbrooke Junction (Junction of Saltisford Arm and Grand Union Main Line) (6 furlongs and 3 locks to the east) and Kingswood Junction (Junction of Grand Union and Stratford upon Avon Canals) (6 miles and 4¼ furlongs and 17 locks to the west). It is part of Hatton Locks.

Hatton Lock No 28 is a minor waterways place on the Grand Union Canal (Warwick and Birmingham Canal: widened section - Main Line) between Budbrooke Junction (Junction of Saltisford Arm and Grand Union Main Line) (4¾ furlongs and 2 locks to the east) and Kingswood Junction (Junction of Grand Union and Stratford upon Avon Canals) (6 miles and 5¾ furlongs and 18 locks to the northwest). It is part of Hatton Locks.

It is part of Hatton Locks.

A warm friendly friendly café on situated at the top of the very famous ‘Stairway to Heaven’ flight of 21 locks.

There is so much water in the locks and the pools between the locks, there would be a tidal wave in Leamington if they were opened
