It's a tap installed outside a wooden shed of the electrical department and as close as you can get to a public fountain. Push the wooden lever hard to start the water flow, and enjoy.

A fantastic view point which can be admired from the bike or you can take a short detour onto a trail to visit more closely.

Proper stop on loops out to Brent Tor or Lydford. The nobbly top of this tor is visible across south Dartmoor, and the church on top is open from Easter Sunday for services.

What remains of the area's history in mining. The engine houses were used as a part of the Gunnislake Clitters Mine, with mine shafts in the area being over 500-metres deep at times.

Shortly after crossing the bridge, we had to return. There is a public footpath, but it's only accessible via a wooden construction with two steep steps. We were walking with our two 80 pounds dogs; the steps are not accessible for dogs and we could only have continued if we had lifted them both above this whatever-it-is-called thingy.

Whimsical, unique and worth seeing: a pub that can hardly be described in words. Anyone driving south from Oakhampten should stop here. Open Wed-Sat 12pm-3pm and 6pm-9pm, Thurs 10pm-3pm.

Longtimber Tor is a small tor nestled next to the River Tavy and hidden amongst a jungle of greens and shrubbery. If you do manage to scramble amongst the bushes and brambles, you will be rewarded with a nice little view over to Smeardon Down & Boulters Tor - it's not a life-changing view like some of the others in the park, but at least it's another ticked off the list!

A wooden bridge spans over the River Tay creating a picturesque setting. There are scattered stones and pebbles on the riverbanks, and a little seat too, which make the perfect spot to sit down and have a picnic and a cuppa.

The Calstock Viaduct crosses the river Tamar and at 37m high is an imposing sight. It is a grade II listed building and links, by rail, Cornwall on the west to Devon in the east.

Created by King Alfred the Great, Lydford has a rich history. It was once the second biggest town in Devon during the reign of Edward the Confessor, now it has a population of less than 500. Lydford Castle was built in 1132 on the site of a pre existing castle built just after the Norman Conquest. Nice spot for a short break after coming up the steep climb from Gunnislake. The site is rather over grown as of posting, but you can still see the two engine house and chimney which were part of the Gunnislake Clitters mine.

This impressive, stone viaduct is one of the many built to enable the railway between Plymouth and Okehampton and strides through the north of Tavistock town. Now converted into a foot and cycle way, the viaduct offers good views over the town as well as far-reaching views across western Dartmoor.
