This disused railway line takes you along Calenick Creek. It's a nice place to run to from Truro as despite being so close, it really feels like you are immersed in nature. The Calenick Creek feeds into the Truro River, which joins with the River Fal.

9월 26, 2023, Pentewan Railway Trail
Between London Apprentice and Pentewan runs the disused Pentewan Railway Line. It is now a flat traffic free trail of around 4.5km in one direction so makes the perfect place to run at a consistent pace. It also makes a great way to link St Austell with the coast path for a longer run. As it is so flat it is either a great warm up or warm down after a hilly coast run.

9월 11, 2023, Portreath Harbour Entrance
Portreath has an inner and outer harbour. The harbour was historically an important port and was one of the earliest industrial ports in Cornwall. Cornwall's first railway, the Portreath Tramroad, linked the harbour to the mines in Scorrier and St Day. Close to the harbour entrance is a white circular hut which is located on a raised section of cliff. This hut is known as 'Dead Man's Hut' and was initially the Harbour Master's lookout. The name originates from when the hut was used as a temporary morgue for bodies washed ashore.

11월 22, 2022, Gwennap Pit
Gwennap Pit was used by the renowned cleric John Wesley to give preaches from 1762 until 1789. Its unusual form is thought to be caused to a collapsed abandoned mine dig. After Wesley's death, villagers continued to use the pit for religious gatherings, a tradition which is still on-going. Local miners cut the circular terraces to make seats at the beginning of the 19th century.

7월 28, 2022, St Newlyn East Preaching Pit
This pit was originally a stone quarry but was transformed into a place of worship when a storm threatened the village chapel and safety was sought in the shelter of the pit. In 1846, a flood caused by localised, torrential rain killed 39 men and boys at the nearby East Wheal Rose Mine. The preaching pit was terraced and dedicated as a memorial to all those who died in the tragedy.
