In Penzance, you have to be careful to find the bike path. The route isn't well signposted here. Once you find it, it's easy to cycle and offers a beautiful view of St. Michael's Mount and the bay. As a cyclist, you also have to be careful of the many pedestrians here. The path isn't that wide.

Beautiful harbour with many nice pubs & cafes.

There is a ferry from the harbor to the Scilly Islands, which are a must-see. Otherwise there is a nice promenade.

Beautiful little coastal village lying on the south of Cornwall. We stayed here on night two of our West Kernow Way adventure at the Harbour Inn. They were bike friendly and served great food. We watched surfers in the sea and the sun going down before tucking into local fish and chips.

Porthleven is a picturesque port on the south coast of Cornwall. It has become popular for it's array of restaurants, cafes and art galleries. The local market selling crafts and food is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from May to October.

The mussel shoal does an excellent lunch.

Porthleven is a lovely little town on the SWCP.

This is a nice combination. From Loe Baar you have a view of the sea on one side and a view of a freshwater lake on the other. This allows you to walk completely around the lake.

Loe Bar was originally the mouth of the River Cober which led to a harbor at Helston. However, by the 13th century the bar had cut Helston off from the sea and formed the lake. Loe Bar consists largely of chert deposits, although it is not certain where this comes from as the nearest source is more than 200 kilometers away. There is also a reasonable amount of sand. Best view of the habour when the tide in in.

The war memorial (WW1 & WW2) to the "parish" Germoe marks the top of Tregonning Hill, at 194 meters above sea level. That doesn't sound very high, but it's higher than the rest of the country nearby, and the hill gives great views of the north and south coasts, Mounts Bay, The Lizard etc on a clear day.

Amazing beach which is a spit between Loe Pool and the sea. Hardly anyone here, just us and a dog walker. Find a reason to visit this place!

Running alongside the beach of Mount's Bay between Penzance and Marazion, this brilliant stretch of traffic-free cycleway makes for a great ride by the sea. The route has really recently been upgraded, and offers smooth tarmac for the entirety, as well as an arts trail alongside it. You'll ride with the sea on one side and the main railway line down to Penzance on the other. From Penzance to Marazion is a good distance too, with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs to refuel before the ride back again!

The name Penzance comes from the Cornish language: "Pen Sans" means something like "holy headland", which refers to a church foundation in early Christian times.

Loe Bar is a 0.5-mile (0.8 km) shingle bank which separates the Loe, the largest natural freshwater lake in Cornwall, from the sea. Loe Bar was once the mouth of the River Cober but by the 13th century it had cut Helston off from the sea (possibly due to a storm) and the pool was formed. Be warned, Loe Bar is a dangerous stretch of beach due to strong waves, a steep and slippery bank and strong currents. Rumours pervade that the deaths that have happened here are the result of freak waves. Nevertheless, it’s best to heed the advice and never swim here.

The coastal resort of Penzance has a faded-glamour that’s synonymous with the British seaside at its best. Renowned for great weather and plenty of nostalgia, the town has plenty to see, do and explore.
