Goonhilly Earth Station was once the largest satellite earth station in the world and has played a pivotal role in communications systems. The first dish, known as Arthur was constructed in 1962 to communicate with Telestar, the first active communication satellite. More than 60 antennas were present by 2006. No longer owned by BT, the site is being run by a private company to develop deep-space communication.

cute, but not much to see or do

Beautiful little coastal village lying on the south of Cornwall. We stayed here on night two of our West Kernow Way adventure at the Harbour Inn. They were bike friendly and served great food. We watched surfers in the sea and the sun going down before tucking into local fish and chips.

Porthleven is a picturesque port on the south coast of Cornwall. It has become popular for it's array of restaurants, cafes and art galleries. The local market selling crafts and food is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from May to October.

Best view of the habour when the tide in in.

Sometimes known by its old name, Porth Mellin, Mullion Cove is a tiny harbour, still very much in use as a fishing port. The old pilchard store and net store give the cove a old world feel. At low tide there is a small sandy beach and a snack shop makes it is a good place to stop for a breather.

Cadgwith is a small fishing village forgotten by the 21st century, situated on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. Fishermen still push their boats up the beach to catch shellfish and wet fish when the weather permits.
