At night the castle is illuminated and gives the scene a mystical feel.

The Wawel Dragon breathes real fire, but only for about 2-3 seconds, so you have to be quick with your pictures.

At least the parking meters in the valley here accept debit cards. That wasn't the case everywhere. The castle itself is unspectacular; apart from the views of the valley, only the entrance gate is impressive. The tower itself offers almost no views, just a continuous loop of films with beautiful aerial shots.

Absolutely not to be missed is the Lady with an Ermine

Szczepański Square – a square in Kraków , in the Old Town district , located between the Planty Park and the streets of St. Tomasza and Szczepańska. Szczepański Square was created in the early 19th century after the demolition of the medieval St. Stephen's Church, to which the square's name refers, and the Church of St. Matthias and Matthew, along with the adjacent former Jesuit buildings. It was initially named National Guard Square because on August 3, 1811, the first review of the National Guard, formed in Kraków, took place there. The one-battalion strong force appeared in full uniform and armament. To commemorate this event, a black marble plaque was placed on the Szołayski tenement house with the inscription: National Guard Square, proclaimed on August 3, 1811. However, this name did not catch on among Kraków residents, and soon the square's current name, used colloquially since around 1808, was finally established. Since the 19th century, one of the largest marketplaces in Krakow has operated here, and in the second half of the 20th century (until 2007) it housed a parking lot. In 2010, the square was modernized, including the addition of a fountain.

A bronze sculpture commemorating a Polish dog who took his role as man's best friend very seriously. It was created by local artist Bronislaw Chromy and unveiled in 2001 by a German sheperd named Kety, by pulling the veil with her teeth. Dzok was a black mongrel whose owner died of a heart attack near the Grunwaldskie roundabout in 1990. For about a year, Dzok waited for his master to reurn, surviving on snacks supplied by local residents. Only after, he allowed himself to be taken in by a new owner.
