Gloucester Docks is a historic area of the city of Gloucester. The docks are located at the northern junction of the River Severn with the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. They are Britain's most inland port.

There are cabins available if you fancy a night on board.

LV14 SULA is a nationally registered historic Lightvessel commissioned by the Humber Conservancy Board in 1959. Stationed on the Humber Estuary for 26 years until being decommissioned in 1985, for the past 12 years, SULA has been moored at Gloucester Docks. Currently being restored by her new owners, SULA's unique Fresnel lens was lit for the first time in 20 years on 5 November 2020.

The Pilot Inn at Hardwicke offers traditional pub food with a nice view. Open Mon to Thurs 12:00 - 22:00, Fri and Sat 12:00 - 23:00 and Sun 12:00 - 21:00. Food served Mon to Fri 12:00 - 14:30 and 17:00 - 20:30, Sat 12:00 - 21:00 and Sun 12:00 - 19:30.

This is a mecca for lovers of coffee, cake and waterside stops. If you happen upon this beautiful place on the first weekend of the month they have a craft market on so you’ll find even more fuel options!

Ace, traffic-free trail. A nice break from some of the surrounding roads. :)

Watch out for those normies!

Possibly best avoid on road bike in the winter, except the section from Elmore into Gloucester, which has a pristine surface. The rest is great on any bike during a dry spell.

This is MTB territory, aviod on a tourer or hybrid as mud just jams up the wheels and mudguards.

The Gloucester Docks would once have been a bustling hub for transporting goods to and from Gloucester along the River Severn. Lovely views along the canal and the Pilot Inn is very closeby.

A nice way into or out of Gloucester which avoids the busier roads.

Forget what Komoot says about the track between here and Elmore... it is pristine gravel or paving and very smooth. There's only one 100 yard stretch where it's a bit muddy, otherwise it can be done on any bike at any time of year.

This is the point where the towpath from Gloucester docks turns off towards Elmore.
