St Kenelm's church is well worth a look inside

Stroud Brewery is located alongside the T&S canal, which makes this an ideal stop for a drink and something to eat. I wouldn`t say this place is cyclist hostile, more cyclist unfriendly. Let me explain, on arriving from canal side, bikes were put in the adjacent garden (not creating a trip hazard) , which attracted the attention of one of the staff who requested they be moved to the bike rack at the front of building. So that's completely out of view to everyone. Other cyclists placed bikes under the stairs, which this member of staff complained was blocking a fire exit.

A little difficult to find, but if you can move freely across the meadows with GPS, you will also find the source of the Thames.

The source of the Thames is a little difficult to find because it is in the middle of cultivated meadows. We had to take a little detour because there were huge combine harvesters driving right through the meadows. However, once you cross the field, you will find a fenced-in area where the spring is marked. We were there in midsummer, so there was no water bubbling here. Another new experience: a spring without water.

Completed in 1789, the Thames & Severn Canal was conceived as part of a canal route linking Bristol and London. After many years of decline, restoration work began in the 1970s and has been ongoing ever since.

Food was excellent but took an age to arrive as cafe was far too busy - need to avoid Saturdays in future

Once the longest tunnel in the country, Sapperton Canal Tunnel takes the Severn and Thames canal underground for 2-miles (3 km). By the entrance is Tunnel House, a pub established in the 1780s for the labourers working on the tunnel. At the time of writing (April 2021), this beautiful and historic Cotswold hostelry is closed but the building remains as a reminder of the region’s industrial heritage.

The Daneway is a hiker-friendly establishment complete with a campsite. The campsite’s facilities include washrooms, showers and toilets and is open all year round. As well as traditional pub fare and a lovely beer garden, there's also the Muddy Boots Cafe, which serves a range of baguettes and sandwiches, sausage rolls and fresh coffee.
