What a view!

A typical Cotswold mixed beech wood on the hill below Haresfield Beacon. The trails are brilliant fun to run, fast downhill and tough uphill. The Cotswold Way long distance trail goes through the woodland.

Fascinating archaeology, geology and nature combine at Haresfield Beacon. This spectacular viewpoint, which was once a strategically positioned hillfort on the Cotswold limestone escarpment, affords views across the England/Wales border and into the Brecon Beacons. All around is a mixed landscape of woodland and chalk grassland, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.

If you can catch him (usually on a weekend) the off road coffee man is super friendly and knows his roast (and hot chocolate)!

Bit of a climb but worth it

This view, from the Cotswold escarpment above Haresfield Beacon, reaches right across the Severn estuary to Wales. Well worth the climb!

A truly beautiful and gently undulating bridleway that is easy and great fun to ride in the summer but might be quite tricky in the winter.

There's some absolutely brilliant track in some stunning scenery in these woods. Lots of options.

Layby with path and great view, a very welcome reward for slogging up the relentless and brutal hill.

West to east can be a bit scary off the brakes on a gravel bike, but quite fun on a trail or XC bike. Would recommend climbing from west to east though as you can take in some views that you can't see anywhere else! very pleasant but hidden route

This has been a long tradition of the local farmer who values visitors who respect the area. I can remember this being here for at least 15 years, I hope it continues as it always makes me smile :-)

Great little network of singletrack and double track trails and some great views across the Severn

You are afforded a glorious views from Haresfield Beacon; stretching over the Severn Estuary, the City of Gloucester and the Forest of Dean. Standish Wood, which you pass through en route, is a site of special scientific interest due to its Jurassic rocks and is a magical place to explore.
