A bit of monster. Although, for me, Lever's Hill felt harder, but that could have been just how I felt on the day. Either way, they surely rank amongst the toughest climbs around here. But I reckon Claypits Lane is harder still. Be warned!

If you are looking to dive down into the valley below as I do frequently then this road together with Painswick Road is the most enjoyable. Birdlip Hill is your other unadvised option with a man hole cover on the apex of the bend that always makes me wish I'd worn more absorbent pants

It was built in 1865 by Samuel Whitfield Daukes as a chapel and a few years later as a parish church.

Quite the nicest and prettiest climb in the Cotswolds - and I'm lucky enough to have it as my route home! Not too steep but it is long ! Also a great and safe descent.

The Miserden Estate has a stunning garden that you can visit (paid entry) and a lovely cafe called the Glasshouse. It's open Wed to Sun from 10:00 - 17:00.

The Anchor Inn serves drinks, snacks and traditional pub food. Open 11:30 - 22:00.

The Pilot Inn at Hardwicke offers traditional pub food with a nice view. Open Mon to Thurs 12:00 - 22:00, Fri and Sat 12:00 - 23:00 and Sun 12:00 - 21:00. Food served Mon to Fri 12:00 - 14:30 and 17:00 - 20:30, Sat 12:00 - 21:00 and Sun 12:00 - 19:30.

Gradient keeps building and building. I thought Ringhill Farm is located just where the gradient ramps up for the steepest section . A super challenging climb.

Great descent or climb

A very hard climb, especially as it's a surface which is easily greasy/leafy, a good one to have done. I wouldn't enjoy descending on it I don't imagine.

Awesome little wooden cabin cafe - with an outside shack for coffee, snacks & ice cream 🍨- plus a main cafe which does full sit down meals. Great for brunch!

What a killer of a climb but it has a lovely bit of bridleway part way up or down 😊 which takes you along the Cotswold way

A nice valley that provides a very quiet route between Edge and Painswick with some great views. The road is very narrow in places, so care is needed. There is also a lot of grit and gravel on the road at the bottom of the valley, so care is need there as well. The climbs in either direction are both reasonably amenable by Cotswolds standards.

I've been seeking out the Daneway descent for over 20 years. Dangerously keeping me young and with a fab pub at the bottom to help settle your nerves afterwards.

A super smooth winding road with stunning views, a joy to ride. It is single lane to be careful of anything oncoming, but it’s also quiet I didn’t see a single fellow cyclist, walker or car.

To date my toughest climb locally. For my money this is harder than Worcestershire Beacon, Portway and Levers Hill. Glad I've done it but it isn't easy.

Cycling With Rosie! A brilliant climb or descent. Possibly the best climb in Gloucestershire. Never steep, but very long and through a truly beautiful valley. Well worth taking Buckholt Road at the top, which is also stunning.

Holy moley... what a monster! If there's a harder climb in Gloucestershire I'd like to know where. Very long, with a massive steep section that keeps getting steeper until it peaks at around 25%. This is followed by more climbing of around 10%, which if you're still going seems like a rest! 700 feet of elevation gain in under two miles and most of it in the first mile!
