What a gem this place is. Homemade food, great staff, a warm welcome and very popular with lovely views of the canal

We were a team of six doing the LEJOG and this was a great stop for us. Very bike friendly with great food.

"Splatt Bridge" is one of eighteen bridges on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. Some of the bridges have classically styled keeper's cottages with Greek columns and pediment.

Nice stop for a coffee next to the canal

Not as bad as it sounds... it doesn't take long to get past the slightly whiffy water treatment works. A very quiet route with a small section of gravel track otherwise it's tarmac. It passes under the railway line a couple of times and also over a small bridge by a weir.

Easily manageable on a rugged bike in winter and just about any bike when it's dry.

Road too small to share between cyclist and pedestrians

Lovely Coffee and Cakes to recharge those tired legs for the return journey.

The towpath between here and Slimbridge is manageable on any bike as long as it hasn't been too wet. Heading north from here is significantly "lumpier".

Lovely views to take in of the Dursley Valley. A great way to recover after the very big climb!

Lovely spot. The canal path to Ryall's Lane is manageable on any bike in the summer, but a bit slippery for road bikes in the winter or after significant rainfall.
