Next time I do this route I'll ayah on Biddulph valley way, as that's a nicer ride and avoids these steps

Excellent savoury and sweet options at decent prices! A tap for drinking water and bike storage outside, and plenty of place for seating inside and out.

Red Loop is a great loop to walk!!! One incline that's a little bit steep, other than that it's easy to navigate. Would suggest some walking shoes or similar.

Cloudside might sound like a lovely name for a road, but it's a tough little berg from either side! Not the longest or steepest in the area but you'll know about it. Great views and a good surface though.

Grade 2 Listed Building (1603). Once the rectory to St. Chads Church this building was substantially remodelled in the 19th century. The shield, crest and motto above the door is that of the Owens family, it is written in Welsh and reads "what Owen has he holds".

Church of St Chad is a Grade II listed building. In 1834 the Church replaced the old timber-framed Chapel, already ruinous by 1817. Built as a simple rectangular, the tower and chancel were added in 1878. During the English Civil War Bagnall was said to be playing host to a Parliamentarian garrison that was using the rectory itself as an armoury, from which they rode out to join battle about 3 miles away and left the field with a scattered mass of severed arms and heads of their enemy. The battle became known as the Armshead Massacre and the area of the slaughter is named Armshead.
