Manifold Valley ride is beautiful

After all the views from the top of the hills, coming back down into the valley you will find lovely scenery along the river with several old stone bridges

This is a lovely bit of landscape near Ossams Hill in the Peak District. There is a mix of rolling hills, open moorland and patchwork fields and some ancient dry stone walls dotted around.

Lovely views down to the River Manifold and Manifold Valley.

Very slippery in the cave... take care

Wetton Valley, nestled in the Peak District of England, is a stunning natural haven. Characterized by limestone gorges, lush greenery, and the Dovedale River, it offers serene hiking trails and a serene escape into the countryside.

Thor's Cave is a limestone Karst cave accessible above the River Manifold. It's a popular destination but very much worth the detour if you're running in this area.

Nice little cafe along the side of the river.

Fair few steps up to the top but a nice clear track all the way. If there are already people in the cave you will hear them about a KM before getting there.

The views alone are worth the trek up, especially those past the cave and up at the cloud. You'll need a buddy to help you scramble the last section into the cave entrance if you're attempting it on a rainy/snowy day - it gets very slippery.

A brilliant example of a small cave system, it can be very busy here during weekends and holidsys etc, but if you go early you should miss the crowds.

Nice walk from/to the parking just below Grindon on the Manifold trail to Thor's cave, 2.23 miles there and back taking 57 min moving time. It's a steep climb with many steps up to the cave. And cold in December but lovely views nonetheless. It was a bit slippery on the decomposing leaves but good shoes and walking poles really helped. Think shoe equivalent of winter tyres for a car or similar for a mountain bike and you won't go far wrong.

Lovely place to cool down in the hot summer. Children also love it.

Great place to stop when cycling on the Manifold valley trail between Waterhouses and Hulme End. You can leave your bikes by the cyclepath and then climb up to the cave to see the views. Easy enough climb for those who are reasonably fit but probably not great for really young children as there are some steep and long drops.

Great walk, make sure you climb to the top of the Cloud, the views are worth the effort

I took this route from Grindon back to Wetton as the footpaths were so muddy it made the footing difficult. Great views from a quiet road walk.
