Railway line no. 233 – a decommissioned and dismantled railway line connecting Pszczółki with Kościerzyna via Skarszewy. Located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The railway line connecting Pszczółki with Kościerzyna was built as part of the construction of the Royal Eastern Railway. The first section, connecting Pszczółki with Sobowidz, opened on October 1, 1884. On August 1, 1885, the line was extended to Skarszewy and opened to scheduled passenger service, and on November 1 of the same year, the entire line to Kościerzyna was completed. In 1900, the lines to Lipusz and Kartuzy were opened, and in 1901 to Bytów, which increased the importance of this line. In 1905, the line connecting Skarszewy with Starogard was opened, significantly shortening the journey from Kościerzyna, Bytów, and Kartuzy to Starogard and Skórcz. The oldest part of the city - on this side of the Wierzyca River, there used to be a farm and a village belonging to Piotr Święca. Shortly after he sold the local lands to the Teutonic Knights, in 1305, under the direction of Theodotus from Florence, they began to mark out the area for the development of a new settlement. In this way, a spatial layout was created with a regular network of streets radiating from the centrally located square market square, which is larger than the Old Town Square in Warsaw.

The current town hall building dates back to the early 19th century. Built on Gothic foundations. In 1893 it was finally rebuilt. It represents the neo-Renaissance style. It is located in the middle of the Market Square.

The market square in Starogard Gdański is the oldest part of the city. In the Middle Ages, on the left bank of the Wierzyca River, there was a farm and a village that belonged to Piotr Święca. After selling them to the Teutonic Knights, around 1305, they began to mark out the area for the development of a fortified settlement. At that time, the construction works were supervised by Theodotus from Florence, to whom Starogard owes its spatial shape with a regular network of streets radiating from the centrally located market square, whose square of 107 m × 107 m is larger than the Old Town Square in Warsaw. Without a doubt, the Teutonic Order contributed to the economic development of the town.
