Quite unassuming

A fantastic choice of cheeses and they were very well stocked with a friendly atmosphere. Sadly short on Venezuelan beaver cheese, though most other tastes catered for.

Caution is advised here and the previous comments are absolutely true.... But, if, like me, you stubbornly want a challenge then the cobbles are certainly rideable and a test of your balance and ability to handle slips and tyre-catching gaps! 28mm slicks just about made it through - be ready to dab if needed and well done if you manage to keep your feet dry, especially if going uphill into Butterton - one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District.

Watch out for Sheep on the road!

Great little cafe

This charming little village is located nearby to Ashbourne in Derbyshire. It's nestled in the picturesque countryside of the Peak District and is characterised by historic stone cottages and a rural atmosphere. I'd recommend a stop at The Cock Inn, a beautiful traditional pub serving up food and real ales.

Some appalling driving along this otherwise beautiful route. Watch out, ride with a buddy, and be safe. Won't be riding there again unless in off-season, just too risky imo! Genuinely worse than the A6 in terms of bad behaviour. First, when on the climb as if you're going towards the house, I got honked at by someone who passed extremely close. Second, when on the descent towards the turning towards the house (going 50kph+), someone very aggressively and closely overtook, and 50 metres later turned off, onto a corner with limited visibility into the drive of the house! Someone was in a rush to relive their Pride and Prejudice days. Methinks Mr Darcy doth drive too much like a plonker. Worth seeing but be aware.

Lovely little shop, plenty of cheeses and accompaniments including quite a few local ones to the area. Picked up a few while I was there. 😃 Also sells local beers and real ales.

Lovely view of the river from the bridge. A nice place to pause before hitting the hill upto Stanton.

Enjoy pleasant riverside scenery as you pass over an old stone bridge that spans over the River Wye.
