At the heart of many beautiful roads and climbs in the North Cotswolds

This was the start/finish point of this walk. "The Church of St Barnabas and St Nicholas was built in the Imperial period, replacing a Medieval church on the same site. The bell turret was added in the 19th Century, during renovation. The church is situated north east of the Manor House, Burmington. There is a fair amount of Medieval masonry in the church walls perhaps dating from as early as the 13th century, but the only ancient architectural detail surviving is part of the chancel arch of c1200. The church had fallen into decay and the nave was rebuilt in 1693; it formerly had a central tower, 4.9m square, but this was then abolished and the chancel reduced in size. A further very complete restoration was also carried out in the 19th century when all the windows, doorways, and roofs were renewed, the bell-turret added, and other work done. In 1311 Burmington was a chapel annexed to the church at Wolford. The chancel arch has two big re-used late 12th century corbels and the NW tower has a pyramid roof." Barton on the Heath is a quiet village located in the Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty. The village features a beautiful tree-shaded village green, a memorial Well-house and numerous Cotswold-stone cottages.

The village has nice old houses, an impressive church and a great ascent in the the north for anyone who likes climbing with their road bike.

St. Peter and St. Paul Church of England is a historic parish church located in the charming Cotswold village of Northleach. The church dates back to the 12th century and features beautiful stained glass windows and intricate carvings.

Enjoy a peaceful stroll through the beautiful Long Compton Woods in The Cotswolds AONB. The woods are made up of Broadleaved and conifer trees with a lovely understory of wildflowers and seasonal bluebells.

St Peter and St Paul is a local landmark, standing at the centre of this Cotswold village, often photographed by passing tourists. Dating from the 13th century, the church is a light and welcoming place. It is open to visitors every day in daylight hours, to admire the architecture and dwell on its history, or to spend some quiet time in prayer or reflection The exterior is well known for its lych-gate, which passes under an old thatched cottage. The path up to the church door is flanked by yew balls and a grassy, stone walled churchyard. Inside, Long Compton church is a well-tended mix of ancient and modern. It was extensively restored in Victorian times, but its mediaeval character remains in its handsome proportions and attractive stonework. The whitewashed walls and clear glass in most of the windows give the church a light and airy feel. The west of the church was altered in 2004 to provide two glass-fronted meeting rooms and a balcony, as well as kitchen facilities. This means that the church can be used more flexibly: for children's groups during some services, for meetings and break-out groups, and as a venue for concerts and other community events.

Lovely village pub with large restaurant and large well kept garden. Really good homemade Venison pie and a good selection of ales with welcoming owners and staff.
