This is one of England's tallest remaining maypoles. It is a striped pole that stands over 20 metres high. It has been present since the days of Shakespeare, and its original incarnation was made of wood (until it was struck by lightning and destroyed). The current pole is made of aluminium and is officially a Grade II historical monument listed by English Heritage.

Small hill with nice views of Cotswolds/Welford. The road surface is pretty bad in Welford direction but gets significantly better as approaches Long Marston.

There are two pubs: The Howard Arms (gastropub) and The Red Lion.

nice road side village from which you can start plenty rides into this part of the Cotswolds. Don't miss the store for refueling.

Dovers Hill is a good climb with decent road surface, steep in places but fairly constant gradient. Enjoy!

Short and steep (15% for a short segment). Decent road surface and little traffic. At the top you can circle Shenlow hill or head across to Winderton. All worth doing and with some nice views to enjoy.

I’m going to second the gravel comment, if it has rained recently it can get a bit more gravel than road.

Another beauty, Moreton-In-Marsh. Can get busy on the weekend. Mind the traffic and tourists in rental car making unexpected moves.

The village has nice old houses, an impressive church and a great ascent in the the north for anyone who likes climbing with their road bike.

The market hall was built in 1627 to provide a shelter for traders. In the 1940s it was almost sold to an American, but the local people raised enough money to buy it instead and gave it to the National Trust to preserve. This is the start of the Cotswold Way. A 102 mile (164 km) National Trail from here to Bath.

Yet another beautiful village/town in the Cotswolds. There are some very pleasant places to eat and drink in the High Street whilst you recharge for the next leg of your journey. Highly recommended.

Beautiful little lane through farmland and past horse stables. Good alternative route to/from Ilmington to the busier Stratford Road.

Lovely little country lane with nice views. Very quiet with not much up or down. Bumpy road surface.

Right on the road through town. Very convenient for restocking on a long ride.
