"The Anglican Church of St James at Coln St. Dennis in the Cotswold District of Gloucestershire, England, was built in the 12th century. It is a grade I listed building. The Church of England parish church is dedicated to Saint James the Great. The church was dedicated to Saint Katherine in the 13th century, Saint Dennis in the 18th century, and is believed to have once been dedicated to Saint Kenelm.[2] During the 18th century it may have briefly been dedicated to St Dennis. The central tower had a belfry added in the 15th century.  This was rebuilt in 1904 as part of a wider restoration by William Weir the architect for the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. The parish is part of the Chedworth Yanworth and Stowell Coln Rogers and Coln St Dennis benefice within the Diocese of Gloucester." tour calls a sharp left immediately after turning right on to footpath; you have to run all the way down the hill before turning!

Lovely spot to stop in the picturesque village of Winchcombe for coffee and cake or a light lunch. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, I will be returning!

At this little pocket in the County of Gloucestershire is Seven Springs, the official source of the iconic River Thames. At 229 miles long, the Thames is the UK's longest river, flowing through southern England all the way to London.

Beautiful road, following the ridge overlooking Winchcombe. Smooth tarmac, little traffic. Great views!

Tourists type "Cotswolds" into google maps and this is where it takes them... Be prepared to be asked for directions!

Pretty Cotswold village. There are four routes out of the village and all involve steep climbs.

Another steep ascent up the Cotswolds escarpment. Quiet lane, mostly good road surface. Very steep in the middle bit, with sustained 12-16% gradients for about 1km. There is a pretty crude cattle grid just at the end of the steep part. Watch out! Beautiful views from the top as a reward for the hard work.

Now you have made it up Salters Lane, stop to take in the beautiful views. If you are heading down towards Temple Guiting, watch for gravel in the turn at the bottom of the road.

Beautiful Cotswold village. Sudeley Castle is a highlight not to be missed. So are the climbs out of Winchcombe back onto the Cotswolds.
