Black Hill stands at the top of the Cat's Back ridge and south of Hay Bluff. The running here is really fun, with good trails underfoot and soaring ridgelines with very far-reaching views. The summit trig point stands at 2,100 feet (640 m).

Black Hill stands at 2,100 feet (640 m) in the Black Mountain region of Bannau Brycheiniog national park. It's the summit of the awesome Cat's Back ridge to the south and links easily into a nice loop with Hay Bluff to the north.

In fair weather the climb/descent of Hatterall Hill (1,742-foot summit) on Offa’s Dyke Path is a magnificent adventure. The route affords splendid and extensive panoramas over Monmouthshire (south and west), Powys (west) and Herefordshire (east). In addition, the path crosses the Pentwyn Iron Age Hill Fort and will usually encounter Welsh Mountain Ponies (classified as a rare breed). This walk is exhilarating and surprisingly easy, full of greenery and well worth the effort!

Nice place to hide from the wind for a break or to have lunch.

Note for dog walkers - there are sheep and horses present, so dogs need to be kept on lead.

Garway Hill is a 1,200-foot (366 m) summit in Herefordshire, England. It has a trig-pointed summit and is a UK listed Marilyn. The views from the top are fantastic, with Wales' Black Mountains in the west and the Wye Valley in the east.

Perfect place to have lunch wonderful views you can see for miles. Hatterrall Hill is a rounded peak in the Black Mountains which sits on the Wales-England border, partly in Monmouthshire, Wales and partly in Herefordshire, England. Its summit at 531m is the high point of a peaty plateau which falls away steeply on all sides. Broad ridges run to the north, the southeast and southwest. To the north the ridge (known as Hatterrall Ridge) dips to a col at around 485m elevation before rising gradually over several kilometres towards Crib y Garth / Black Hill and Hay Bluff. The ridge to the southwest ends abruptly at the sheer cliff known as the Darren below which is a considerable landslipped area extending south to the hamlet of Cwmyoy with its mis-shapen church. The Welsh part of the hill falls within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

A nice little shelter built of stone. It's the perfect place to spend your lunch walking along the ridge.
