Since 1955, Popielno has been continuously breeding horses in a reserve system, also known as freedom or freedom. This means that the horses stay in a forest reserve all year round, and human interference, in accordance with the assumptions of the breeding program, is limited to a minimum. It consists of observing horses living in the reserve and intervening when the animal's life is in danger (observations of the horses are conducted several times a week), winter feeding with hay and catching young individuals.
