The Cloud Trail (sometimes called Cloud Trail Greenway) is a 13‑mile (21 km) mostly flat, traffic‑free route stretching from Derby to Worthington via former railway track and canal towpaths. Abandoned in the 18th Century, the house is now an evocative ruin set in a landscape that has changed little since the house's heyday.

Grace Dieu Priory was an Augustinian nunnery between the 13th and 16th centuries but was closed when the Dissolution of the Monasteries Act was enacted in 1535. The priory went into decline from this date onwards. The ruins of the Grace Dieu Priory and its surrounding woodland, Grace Dieu Wood, are in a beautiful setting on the outskirts of Thringstone. It is well worth a visit.
