In Penzance, you have to be careful to find the bike path. The route isn't well signposted here. Once you find it, it's easy to cycle and offers a beautiful view of St. Michael's Mount and the bay. As a cyclist, you also have to be careful of the many pedestrians here. The path isn't that wide.

Lanyon Quoit is a Neolithic dolmen. That said, it collapsed in a storm in 1815 and was re-erected nine years later, it is thought that it is now different from its original appearance. The granite capstone weighs more than 12 tons. The quoit stands at the north end of a long barrow, but the barrow has been damaged and is often overgrown and difficult to see.

The remains of the mine building are right by the road. There is a car park that is a good starting point for hikes. The bus (Lands End Coaster) also passes by regularly.

If asked where a famous island was dedicated to the Holy Archangel Michael, most people would probably answer the internationally famous UNESCO World Heritage Site "Mont Saint Michel" in France, located off the coast of the English Channel on the border between Normandy and Brittany. But a "St. Michael's Mount" can also be found in the southwest of England - beyond the European mainland, off the British Isles.

The start of National Cycle Route 3, the Cornish Way from Land's End to Sennen is a brilliant coastal stretch of gravel track. It's traffic free but make sure you do give way to other trail users like hikers. Enjoy the marvellous sea views and practising your gravel cornering skills on the tight right-angled turns!

Lanyon Quoit is one of Cornwall's best known prehistoric monuments and stands just east of the road from Trevowhan to Madron. Originally built in the neolithic period (3500-2500 BCE), the quoit would have been made up of 4 upright stones. Sadly, due to storm damage, it had to be re-erected in the 19th century and now consists of three granite pillars (1.5m in height) which support a large slab capstone.

Situated right next to the road, Carn Calver Mine is an ideal accessible place to get up close to Cornwall's industrial past. The mine was operational for only 20 years, with only 150 tons of tin produced. The two ruins closest to the road are engine houses. The wall of the chimneyed building was destroyed to fill in the mine when it closed. The Count House, off to the north from the car park, is now used by Bosigran Climbing Club to store their equipment.

A church has stood on this site since at least the 6th century, and is thought to have been founded by St. Senara. Senara has been modified over the centuries to become Zennor. The present building dates from the 13th and 15th centuries. Look out for the mermaid chair, thought to have been carved 400–600 years ago, in memory of a parish choir boy who fell in love and eloped with a mermaid.

A great place to start & finish end to end ride.

Needs very little explanation: the most southwesterly tip of mainland England, Land's End. This is a mecca for endurance challenges such as Land's End to John o'Groats, for both cyclists and hikers, as well as a popular tourist destination. The best way to ride to Land's End is via the Cornish Way cycle route from Sennen, which is a well laid and traffic free gravel track over the clifftops.

On 19th December 1981 a grave tragedy hit the small village of Mousehole. The Union Star, on its way from The Netherlands to Ireland, was being blown towards the treacherous Cornish coast on an incredibly stormy night. The Solomon Browne, Penlee's lifeboat, went out to rescue the crew of the Union Star but all attempts failed and the Solomon Browne was lost as well as the Union Star. All eight members of the lifeboat crew died and it is a loss that is still felt very keenly in Mousehole. Everyone in the small community was affected by the disaster.

Newlyn Harbour is one of the biggest fishing ports in the UK. It is also a popular place to moor yachts and pleasure crafts. It is bustling with pubs and restaurants, you might say that you won't find fresher fish than here.

Jubilee Pool is an art deco lido which is now run as a social enterprise. The lido was originally opened in 1935. Since 2019, a part of the lido has been heated by geothermal energy from a well drilled 410m into the rock underneath.

Well-preserved/restored historic outdoor swimming pool. If you want to use the hot water area, prior registration is required. Since the pool has a very high surround into which the changing rooms are built, there is no view of the sea from the pool.
