The kitchen typically closes at hour before the cafe does so get here in plenty of time if you want to order food.

4km long road through the heart of Thorpe Woodlands. Includes a 2.5km and a 1.25km straight, linked by a gentle curve, that are wide with a fairly even surface and sheltered from the wind by the trees: perfect for an interval session or a fast pace line.

Pleasant, shady spot. Only a few meters from the road but the ground is grass/mud so not the easiest to access in road cleats unless in dry summer conditions.

The approach from the A1066 to the south offers a short but fast descent (max 7%) to the River Thet, a rarity in this part of the world. Watch out for the off-camber 90 degree left turn at the bottom, with a large pot hole in the middle, which can easily catch you out.

As the name aptly suggests; it's all in the photos. Nothing more to add. I was on a 200km touring ride, not attempting a KOM or some such. A very pleasant surprise nonetheless to hv encountered it - had no previous knowledge of its existence - glad to hv found it by pure coincidence. Always brings a smile to face to see cycling 'non-business' related stuff. Just pure awareness, friendly 🚲 stuff. 🙂

This is the older of the two mills in the village of Pakenham, the watermill. Not just in Pakenham, but we're talking about the oldest operational watermill in Suffolk. Generic bit of Norfolk country road. Nothing exceptional, and some fast traffic.

Quintessential Suffolk: wide, rolling views, and pig farms. An avenue of trees has just been planted along the road so come back in a couple of decades to see the change.

Foodie pub with a large beer garden (tucked off through an arched gate to the right). Good bet for a lunch or refreshment stop.

Pretty rough and ready but one of the few convenience stores in the area. Closes between 2 and 3pm each day and at 1pm on Sundays.

No shop front signage so keep a look out or it’s easy to miss it.

Excellent bike friendly cafe. Good food, friendly staff, nice outdoor seating and decent bike parking.

Freehouses are usually a good bet for a lunch stop. Convenient location, if by a bit of a busy road.

Many local cafes only open at the end of the week and weekends so this can be a good bet for earlier or midweek.
