On the left bank of the Riaza River (a tributary of the Duero) is Milagros, the place where a Roman villa was founded during the Low Empire (3rd to 5th centuries). History favored the presence of the population until in 1833 it acquired the status of a municipality with its own town hall.

It is a town located in the south of the province of Burgos on the Atlantic slope, at 750 meters above sea level, bathed by the Riaza River, about 92 km from the city of Burgos. One of the most important characteristics of the population is the view of its Castle, which is located on top of the nearest hill.
