The Church of Santa María stands at the foot of Belorado Castle and is one of the town's main artistic landmarks. Built in the 16th century on the site of the former castle chapel, it houses a Romanesque carving of Saint Mary on its main altar. Its interior features several family chapels and a valuable Baroque altarpiece. For walkers, a visit offers an interesting journey through the history and religious art of the region.

What a fortress. It has survived everything. Well, the tower may have collapsed at some point or was built later. That's why it doesn't really fit. In front of the church, as it should be, is the village square with a fountain.

In Belorado. I don't usually choose a hostel as a highlight, but I can recommend this one unconditionally. And so close to the center. The owner is called Joaquin. Like me.

Beautiful little town - as the name suggests. With great hostels and a large Plaza Mayor, where you can find many restaurants. The town is impressive because of the many paintings on the houses, but this is another highlight. Because these paintings cannot be found on the Plaza Mayor.
