This 11th/12th century fortress played an important role during the wars between León and Castile, due to its strategic location on the border line between the two kingdoms.

Otero de María Asensio is an unpopulated Spanish town located in the municipality of Calvarrasa de Arriba, in the province of Salamanca, autonomous community of Castilla y León. Small artificial pond that is located after the town of Aldearrubia. Not only is the reservoir famous, but to the north of the road there is a turret on top of a hill.

The ruins of the Castle of Carpio Bernardo offer beautiful views towards the Castilian plateau.

Beautiful views from the top of the hill towards the countryside and the Aldearrubia reservoir. The ascent is not difficult and you can opt for a more entertaining trialera for the descent.

Very interesting stroll heading NW following the paved track that comes out next to the bridge. There is also a beach and a fountain next to the church. Of course we also have bars to refresh ourselves and have a snack.
