The La Tranquera Reservoir in Nuévalos is a spectacular place to enjoy nature and panoramic views. Inaugurated in 1959, the reservoir was designed to regulate the flow of the Piedra River and ensure the water supply in the region.

Beautiful Aragonese town

Nice views of Nuévalos and the Tranquera reservoir in the background, from the road reaching the town. If we are lucky enough to see the reservoir with its well-charged water reserves, we will see its spectacular emerald blue color. We will find fishermen, people bathing and a lot of fauna.

We are in the Monasterio de la Piedra Natural Park (not free), an idyllic place for nature lovers where we will find waterfalls, lakes, caves, beautiful walkways and more. The building itself is an old restored Cistercian monastery from the 13th century, where we can see the transition from Romanesque to Cistercian Gothic and where its spectacular cloister stands out. An essential corner for nature lovers. The "Pozo Redondo" Waterfall of Calmarza is a charming place that is hidden in the lower part of the town where the Mesa River passes

At this point we can take the detour to approach the Sanctuary of Jaraba, an imposing and impressive hermitage located in the Barranco de la Hoz Seca, with rocky walls next to the river canyon. A highly recommended visit if we are in the area. The guided tour is recommended.
