Beautiful trail in a narrow canyon formed by the river.

Last year in August (2024) it was brimming with energy and enthusiasm, but this year (2025) it's dry again. There's water, but it doesn't even fill half the pool. The water filters a few meters down, into Fuente Segura de Abajo.

We owe the innkeepers a great deal of gratitude. We were caught in a hailstorm on March 30, 2022 and arrived at the kiosk completely frozen. The kiosk was closed. But the innkeepers let us in and we were allowed to warm ourselves up by the fire. We are very grateful to them for this and therefore highly recommend this restaurant.

3월 26, 2024, Salto de los Órganos Waterfall
The trail to Salto de los Órganos starts from the power station and is probably one of the most spectacular and challenging sections. After overcoming some steep slopes, to the left, from the Picón del Haza, a waterfall with a drop of more than 170 meters unfolds. The force of this waterfall is used by the hydroelectric plant.

A beautiful little refugio perched on top of a hill, exclusive to hikers and cyclists. Pump for water that was working in October 2023. Be aware that you might not be alone - we slept with 8(!) other hikers inside.

At 1710 meters, this refugio (shelter) stands at a lonely height in a beautiful spot in the Sierra. Inside the refugio is neatly maintained with bunk beds and outside you really imagine yourself in Spanish Lapland. A top place to stay overnight!

Natural source in an otherwise fairly dry landscape. A restaurant / bar is also located at the source. This makes it the perfect stopover at the start or end of your adventure in the Sierra.

This stretch of path is difficult to cycle because it runs through areas of hard rock and is designed for walking, but in any case it is worth seeing and enjoying.

This refuge is located in a privileged place, in the middle of the Fields. Looking out the door at sunset is something spectacular. It is usually clean and in order, although sometimes the lack of civility is noticeable.

Free Mountain Shelter, in very good condition, with shared wooden bunk beds (for 10 people for sure), table and benches and with an underground water subtraction pump (clean but I imagine not drinkable). For those of you who use it, please keep it just as clean.

This summer (2023) the Fountain is not overflowing with water. The thing is funny, I had to buy water at the beach bar! Still lucky it's open!

Unique spring for the way in which the water flows from a deep hole in the ground. Pure and crystalline water that is born at a very cold temperature.

The Cerrada (or Cerrá) path runs through a winding gorge broken by the patience of the Borosa River, in the Sierra de Cazorla.

The path goes up and down several times between the stone towers, passes through small groups of giant pines, a couple of dense bojedas and crosses the old terraces of the Cortijo del Haza, the last hollow before crossing the Cinto del Haza and going down to the canal from the Órganos reservoir. In the last descent there is a group of pines with several hundred-year-old specimens. The trail turns to the right, crosses the channel tunnel and begins the descent of the Borosa River canyon through an impressive tuff formation. Sometimes the Salto de los Órganos is formed with the excess water from the canal, a hundred-meter waterfall that falls on the road before reaching the Borosa Hydroelectric Power Plant. The forest track that goes down to the fish farm begins at the door of the plant.

The water of the Segura River emerges from a cave that is part of the underground system that collects the rainfall that falls in the Campos de Hernán Perea. The pool that is formed is crystalline waters. Some 300 meters south of the source of the Segura River are the cave paintings of the shelter of La Cañada de la Cruz.

This refuge has a strategic location that offers incredible panoramic views. If you are lucky, perhaps you can enjoy the starry sky and the tranquility of the place with no other company than your backpack or your bike. The shelter has a cistern to collect rainwater. The water can be extracted manually, but it is not treated.

The shelter is furnished with built-in bunk beds and a table with a bench. If you follow the marked Bosques del Sur path, you will find it at the end of stage number 16.
