Several beautiful bridges can be admired in the green belt of Valencia

Nice walk through the former riverbed with many good places for a rest, here and there nice gardens and many sports facilities. Walking under the bridges is really impressive.

The old riverbed has been turned into a park strip surrounding quite a part of the old centre. Great area to walk away from the traffic and home to several playgrounds and sports facilites.

The opening to allow the treed growing through the bridge are a quite unique feature.

The construction of the pillars was clearly designed for a larger river to flow through - nowadays there is only a small lake in the park below the bridge.

This immense garden was created in the old bed of the Turia river, which was diverted to avoid the constant flooding that the city suffered. After the great flood of October 14, 1957 that destroyed the city, the bed of the Turia was diverted to the south of Valencia, leaving a significant strip of land that crosses the city from east to west and surrounds the historic center. When the gardens were opened in 1986, several urban planners and landscape architects designed the different stretches of the riverbed, imitating the former landscape of the river and creating a unique course planted and equipped with palm and orange trees, fountains and pine trees, aromatic plants and ponds, sports fields and rose gardens.

An estimated 27,000 colored flowers adorn this bridge, which are replaced 4 times a year so that the flowers are always in bloom. That makes the flower bridge perhaps the most photogenic bridge of them all. If you cycle over this, you will drive through a veritable sea of flowers. Or take a seat on one of the many benches on the side of the bridge among the flowers.
