Via the Zubizuri in Bilbao, also called Puente del Campo Volantin, you literally walk from the old to the new city. Together with the Guggenheim Museum, the bridge is the figurehead of the more modern, renovated Bilbao. The Zubizuri was built between 1994 and 1997. In Basque, its name means ‘White Bridge’. The Spanish architect Calatrava developed the modern metal construction with a glass floor, which later turned out to be not very practical. As a result, the city of Bilbao had to spend more than a quarter of a million to cover the bridge with carpet.

Impressive museum, the building itself, architecture, high interior structures and the way art is displayed in enormous spaces. This allows art to be fully expressed.

I recommend visiting it at different times of the year and contemplating the color changes of its floral "skin".

A very typical building by the architect Santiago Calatrava. Curved and bent lines in delicate white architecture, a very similar form to be seen elsewhere and therefore nothing new, but still beautiful. Puppy, a twelve-meter-tall West Highland Terrier, is one of the most famous dogs in the world and is the background for many of the pictures that tourists take with them from Bilbao. Created by American artist Jeff Koons (York, Pennsylvania, 1955), it sits outside the Guggenheim Museum as if it were its guardian. It can be seen as a monument of sentimentalism but also as one of the main icons of modern Bilbao. The flowers that fill the stainless steel structure change with each season.

Also called the “Calatrava Bridge” after the architect who built it, it is an arched, white and slender structure that looks like a sailing ship ten meters high above the river mouth. Its glass surface has caused a lot of controversy, which is why today people step on a non-slip mat. It connects Uribarte with Campo Volantín and, despite the controversies that have always accompanied it, is one of the symbols of the city.

Very frequent crossings, basically non-stop during the day. There is a person selling tickets onboard so you don't need to buy one in advance through the machines that only take small coins. Was only 90c for me and my bike.
