Monheim has a beautiful old town.

The current building dates from the late Gothic period; the north portal of the church bears the date 1509. The interior, however, is Baroque in style. The vault was added in its present form in 1596. The monastery was dissolved by the Protestant ruler (Monheim had belonged to the new Principality of Palatinate-Neuburg since 1506). The pilgrimage ceased. Remains of the monastery are still visible in the present-day St. Walburg House and in the cloister. The church tower was completed in 1575. Today on Father's Day the beer garden was well attended, but not too crowded. Luckily there is no more "drive-in" here. You can take a seat at the numerous seats and enjoy the food. The petting zoo is a highlight for the children.
