Summit of Rocacorba (970 masl) or also of Puigsou (991 masl), roof of Gironès. It is reached after a 13.5 km climb, with an average gradient of around 6.5%, with kms above 10.5% and a very intense finish 😅. The views from the summit make the effort worthwhile.

3.8 km from the summit is this house of Roure Gros, or ca la Roser, where you will surprisingly find some chairs, shade... and a fridge full of fresh drinks and fruit!! All for a fair price and good will. Take what you want and leave in the mailbox or by bizum/paypal what it asks for. It is a great help, especially in summer!

⛪ Santa Maria de Porqueres – A Romanesque Jewel by Lake Banyoles Perched on a gentle hill on the eastern shore of Lake Banyoles, the Església de Santa Maria de Porqueres is one of Catalonia's finest examples of 12th-century Romanesque architecture. Consecrated in 1182, this single-nave church features a semicircular apse, barrel vault, and intricately sculpted capitals that depict biblical scenes and symbolic motifs. Its façade is adorned with a striking portal, distinguished by 22 carved medallions and a series of arches, making it a standout among Romanesque churches. The church's serene setting, surrounded by cypress trees and overlooking the tranquil waters of the lake, offers a peaceful retreat for visitors. Adjacent to the church stands a comunidor, a small open-sided structure historically used by priests to bless the surrounding lands and protect them from storms. Tip: Easily accessible via cycling routes around Lake Banyoles, this historic site is a perfect stop for those interested in architecture, history, or seeking a moment of reflection amidst nature.

The entire Vall d'en Bas, a valley located in the region of La Garrotxa, is a spectacular place, a very open valley surrounded by small mountains with lush vegetation. The views of the village of El Mallol, which rises above the valley, are particularly beautiful. Here you can take a great souvenir photo of the Vall d'en Bas.

This is one of the passes you can overcome to reach the Coll de Canes from its northern slopes (from Sant Joan de les Abadesses) and western slopes (from Ripoll). From both sides, it's a very easy climb, along a good road, and with beautiful panoramic views.
