To the north of the town of Plasencia we find this town, located in the Montes de Tras la Sierra, between the Jerte valley and the Ambroz valley, in a beautiful wooded area!

The municipality of Casas del Castañar belongs to the Valle del Jerte region, which is famous for its extensive cherry tree crops. If you do the Ruta de los Castaños you will be able to enjoy the view of these beautiful trees, which are especially beautiful in spring, when they are in bloom. However, they are worth admiring at any time. You can find them, normally, distributed in terraces.

At this point there is a group of century-old chestnut and oak trees, some of which are more than 700 years old and ten meters in diameter. There are four chestnut trees declared Singular Trees in the municipality of Casas del Castañar. In autumn you can enjoy a true visual spectacle thanks to the reddish tones of the leaves and the mist, which adds a mystical touch to the scene.

This is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the area. It's only a short walk from the road, but if you're with a bike, you'll need to leave it on the road or ride up a steep path.

Located very close to the urban area of Cabezabellosa, this panoramic point offers the best views of the entire Ambroz Valley and beyond. It has been built on a walkway over the cliff that allows a very cool 360 degree panoramic view.

This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and impressive waterfalls in the Piornal region. The Caozo waterfall is a wonderful place where you can appreciate nature at its best. It can be reached from Valdastillas following the marked route PR-CC 32.
