Jakub Krčín was an important Czech architect, engineer, and hydraulic engineer of the 16th century. He lived from approximately 1535 to 1604 and is best known for his work in water management and pond construction. Krčín was a master at planning and implementing complex water projects and played an important role in the development of water infrastructure in Bohemia. His most famous works are the numerous ponds and water features he built in the region around Třeboň (German: Tábor). These ponds were built primarily for fish farming and agricultural use and still stand as impressive testaments to his skills today. Jakub Krčín is considered one of the most important hydraulic engineers of his time in Central Europe.
