Ulldecona is a town located in the Montsiá region, in the province of Tarragona (Catalonia). It obtained its first population charter in 1222, when the population was located at the foot of the castle. It is close to the Sénia river, considered the natural border between the Principality of Catalonia and the Regne de València. In 1273 the second population charter was granted when the original nucleus was transferred to the plain, with the name of Sant Lluc d'Ulldecona. The historic center was walled until the 19th century, with the typical structure of a Roman city, with two perpendicular axes. During the 20th century the town expanded beyond the walls, coinciding with the period of full agricultural development in the area.

Ulldecona is a pretty town very close to the border with Valencia. Surrounded by fields of ancient olive, almond and carob trees, Ulldecona also enjoys a beautiful architectural heritage that includes a castle and a cathedral.

A cozy town! Well maintained. And at the market there is a patisserie with very good cakes and delicious almond bread.

Formerly an oil mill, now well renovated. Today there are showcases in the oil presses, the millstones and oil basins can still be seen. Below is the tourism office, above a glamorous exhibition hall, in which at the moment (October 21) an interesting exhibition of the "Women of Montsia" can be seen.
