For me it is one of the nicest refuges in the area, small and cozy.

The views are beautiful but I recommend doing this route during the week so as not to arrive and meet a lot of people above. On weekends there can be a lot of traffic.

It is a short ascent with a very attractive drop in altitude that runs between the La Palomera forest and the green meadows of the Ensija plateau. This refuge is in an idyllic enclave and perfect for ascents to initiation summits to the mountain

In September 1964, the Federation of Hiking Entities of Catalonia – then known as the Catalan Mountaineering Federation – inaugurated the Serra d’Ensija refuge, its eleventh mountain facility at that time. It followed the same architectural structure as the Sant Jordi and Estanys de la Pera refuges. Located in a magnificent corner surrounded by meadows, very close to its highest point in the Ensija range, Cap de la Gallina Pelada (2,321 m), it is an ideal facility both for spending the night and for stopping for a bite to eat. The access paths through the Llobateres ravine and Font Freda are a delight. It is also a magnificent place for winter snowshoe hiking, with mostly rounded mountain profiles, ideal for practicing this mountain discipline. A crossing point for the Tora Blava traverse, you can also make several mountain ski excursions. Ensija is the only guarded refuge in this pre-Pyrenean mountain range, which hides many hidden treasures. Now it's just a matter of discovering them. the Pollegó Superior, with its 2506.4m, is the culmination of Pedraforca, a magical and emblematic mountain for all mountaineers in general and for Catalans in particular. For this reason the number of people who ascend it in a weekend can reach 600 and about 150 on weekdays. Obviously in winter time things change substantially and you may not even find anyone. High mountain equipment, depending on the season, is a must. While it has somewhat compromised access, along with the prepared people many newcomers try to crown the summit. This is the second Catalan mountain where the GRAEs perform more, behind Montserrat.

Pedraforca is an emblematic mountain of Catalonia that is located in the Sierra del Cadí, within the area of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, making the border between the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida. It has a very peculiar shape due to its two peaks separated by a large hill.
