In Roman times, Palazzo Canavese was the Via delle Gallie, a Roman consular road built by Augustus to connect the Po Valley with Gaul. The municipality and the city are located on the historic route of the Via Francigena, a Canavese variant, which comes from Bollengo and then heads towards Piverone. The bell tower - Torre Dell'Orologio - attracts the most spectators.

In Lake Viverone, the remains of around 5000 poles driven into the ground which supported the structures of a very ancient large pile-dwelling village dating back to the Bronze Age have been extraordinarily preserved. The site has an important archaeological value, artefacts such as swords, axes, pins and ornaments have been discovered, which have allowed us to reconstruct the life of a Bronze Age community. The site is now a World Heritage Site.

Lake in the greenhouse area of Ivrea, takes its name from the nearby town Viverone. The banks are rich in vegetation and there are also ancient stilt houses (not at this point). In Lago is the largest in this area, definitely worth a visit.

This small village of few inhabitants is a passage of the Via Francigena. The Church of San Genesio is very beautiful, with the Bell Tower which testifies to the influence of the Medieval era.

Beautiful lake, the third largest in Piedmont. Of glacial origin and near the Ivrea moraine saddle. It takes its name from the village of the same name, it is worth going around it entirely and discovering its details, such as the prehistoric stilt houses (not at this point). A great ride especially out of season.

The gate tower dates back to the 13th century. Originally it had two passage arches, carriage and pedestrian, equipped with drawbridges operated by levers that emerged from the three obvious slits. The upper part was open and crenellated. Not far away, in the square, there is a contemporary corner tower of the medieval city wall. Some well-signposted circular pedestrian routes start from the adjacent square (we recommend the IV which passes through Gesiùn).

A few meters below the water level, the remains of approximately 5000 poles stuck in the ground have been preserved, evidence of an ancient pile-dwelling village dating back to the Bronze Age. The settlement is one of the 111 "Prehistoric Pile-dwelling Sites of the Alpine Arc" protected by UNESCO. The place is definitely enchanting: water lilies, poplars, aquatic birds...
