The Alarcón dam is a hydroelectric engineering work built on the upper course of the Júcar river. It is located 6 km from the town of Alarcón, in the province of Cuenca. Its construction began in 1942 at the initiative of the Valencian irrigators to regulate the course of the river, essential for the irrigation of the province of Valencia, finishing the works in 1970.
