Sanctí-Spiritus is a town whose history goes back to the 12th century. It belongs to the region of the legendary Ciudad Rodrigo. It is one of the largest municipalities in the province, although the town has only 840 inhabitants. As a curiosity: there are several towns with the same name in the world, for example in Cuba and Argentina.

The history of this town begins to be written around the 12th century, when the growing kingdom of León del Norte and the Muslims, increasingly divided, from the South disputed this no man's land and border, as it was considered strategic for the interests of each.

Its name, according to legend, long ago there was a dark forest, in the direction of Tenebrón (hence the name) where there were many wolves, and when someone went to a certain place through this dark forest, they were told God Save Him so that God protect him along the way.
