A beautiful experience through an unmanaged forest.

It was an interesting experience because you see so many fallen trees. Otherwise, a forest in Switzerland is always very tidy.

I like it early in the morning when everything is still quiet. You can watch dippers and listen to the murmuring of the water.

The Sihlwald is a pristine natural forest south of Zurich where logging has been prohibited for years. Fallen giants of trees, moss-covered trunks, and dense foliage create a wild and romantic atmosphere. Along the Sihl River, you'll experience tranquility, birdsong, and a pure connection with nature – true wilderness right on the city's doorstep.

The Hochwacht lookout point on the Albis ridge is a scenic viewpoint overlooking Lake Zurich. From here, you can see across the lake, the Reppisch Valley, and, on a clear day, as far as the Glarus Alps. The path leading up takes you through light forests and over gentle hills – a short but rewarding hike offering peace and panoramic views.

The forest along the Sihl River is very pristine. The paths are wonderful for hiking and are very well maintained. For the most part, you hike very close to the water.
