Alcalá del Júcar is one of the most picturesque villages in Castilla-La Mancha, famous for its spectacular location on a deep bend of the Júcar River. The terraced white houses, the caves carved into the rock, and its castle overlooking the canyon make it a must-see destination. It is an old 18th-century wooden irrigation system next to the Cabriel River, which after several restorations continues to function to raise water to the orchards of the "Rinconada de Muñoz", and has a small viewpoint from where you can contemplate this unique piece of hydraulic heritage in the area.

It was built in 1972 at the confluence of the Cabriel and Guadazaón rivers. The dam height is 129 metres. Its purpose is, among other things, to supply water to the city of Valencia. The Contreras Bridge was built between 1845 and 1851 by the engineer Lucio del Valle. To descend the ravine, he had to build a zigzag road that formed the port of Contreras.
