Utö has long played a role as a semi-remote but accessible military training site near Stockholm. This includes tank and armoured vehicle movement training on forest roads, the area around the Utö–Ålö connector road is one such former training corridor. Keep moving!

Cool, simple campsite right by the water. The pitch must be paid for at "Utö Gästhamn" at the "Gruvbryggan" ferry terminal.

Very nice beach. Several places where you can make a small fire. Easely accesable.

Can be very crowded during summer and most boat crews don't come to this harbour to experience the lovely nature, they are here to party... but rent a bike and get around and you will find a beautiful island with small and huge beaches, old mining history, the lovely wind mill and so on. A good small ICA grocery store here.

From here, you can take a boat to Rånö - Nåttarö - Nynäshamn. Arriving to Nynäshamn, you'll have the commuter train station just about 100 meters away, heading for Stockholm City.

This beach has toilets (dass), fireplaces and during summer a wonderful possibility to take a swim.

Old mines, now filled with water but a memory of Swedish industrial history.

The setting is wonderful. Worth a visit.
