In this location, it is believed that there was a medieval fortress that was razed by Abd al-Rahman III on August 8, 939, during his retreat towards the upper course of the Duero after the defeat of his troops in the “Battle of Simancas”. Beautiful building erected in the 16th century in a Renaissance style, but with Gothic features present. The temple is made up of three naves, octagonal pillars and vaults decorated with star-shaped ribbed designs.
