The statue commemorates King Charles the Eleventh, who founded Karlskrona in the 17th century and immediately developed it into a naval base.

The Church of the Holy Trinity is reminiscent of the Pantheon in Rome.

The same architect who designed this Baroque church created the neighboring Trinity Church

Together with the Trinity Church in Karlskrona, Fredriks Church is considered the most important monument of classical Roman Baroque in Sweden.

Among the citizens who moved to Karlskrona were many Germans who, under the leadership of Hans Wachtmeister, received permission to build their own church, which is why the Trinity Church was also called the German Church.

Karlskrona suffered from a severe shortage of usable fresh water, and the wells on Trossö could not possibly meet the needs of the city and the navy. Drinking water had to be brought in specially built boats from Lyckeby, Nättraby, and Ronneby. Seven years after a cholera epidemic, the decision was made in 1860 to build pipelines from the mainland. The completion of the water tower in 1863 marked a major advance for the health of Trossö. Water was piped here from Lyckeby.

A former railway line, lowered and with many bridges and tunnels, runs through the middle of the city to the shipyards.
