Vellisca is the typical La Mancha town of whitewashed houses surrounded by cereal fields. It is located at the foot of the Altomira mountain range and very close to the source of the Riánsares river. Its natural environment is fascinating.

Christian pilgrimage route that starts from Madrid to arrive, after 144 km and 6 stages, at the Monastery of Santiago de Uclés. It was thanks to a pilgrim, Manuel Rossi, who managed to restore this path, forgotten by the passing of time.

Although it is a small town with just 1,700 inhabitants, it has a vast historical heritage. Its places of interest include: the urban wall of Andalusian origin, the Castillo de Luna, the old convent of the Jesuits and the church of Santo Domingo.

Among its heritage, the Castillo de Luna stands out, of the citadel type and with a very elongated rectangular floor plan, following the shape from north to south of the same hill on which it sits. For its construction, ashlar stone was used, perhaps also taking advantage of the material from the ancient Roman city of Opta.

This picturesque and entertaining section of the Camino de Uclés offers wonderful views of the town when approaching it from the north. Some beautiful views especially aimed at the Monastery that stands out from the other buildings.
