It is a charming district that belongs to the Segura de la Sierra region. It is located at the foot of Mount El Yelmo, a well-known place for hiking in the middle of nature.

This trail could be considered one of the most complete because it contains tracks, paths, and climbs with loose stones. For having, it even has muddy areas when it rains. It runs parallel to the swamp for several kilometres.

The name does not really honor the place, because it is an area where a small water reservoir is produced, "without oil" 🤭 but it is an ideal area for bathing and resting. From there begins an endless climb towards one of the most beautiful areas of the mountains: the refuge of La Parra

It's worth taking a little detour to enjoy the views.

El Guijarrón (1273 meters) is an incredible natural balcony with spectacular views of the El Tranco reservoir. Surely you will find a mountain goat there or a vulture flying over the sky! At the top there is also a fire watch house that can be used as a shelter (except in the fire season).

It is possible to go hiking in the surroundings through short routes along the path that runs parallel to the river. Some 200m downstream on the left bank is the mouth of the Tranco reservoir drainage tunnel, where the water comes out turbulently.

This Jaén town of around 1,800 inhabitants is nestled in the beautiful natural park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas. It is part of the network of the "Most Beautiful Towns in Spain" and is famous for its Mudejar castle, located at its highest point and surrounded by an old wall that still retains some towers.

Summit of 1270m located on the periphery of the Pantano del Trancolas reservoir. It offers peripheral views of the Sierra de las Lagunillas or the Monteagudo hill among other places.
