Biescas is one of the largest and most important municipalities in the Pyrenees. It has 19 population centers —in addition to Biescas itself—, but at least seven of them are uninhabited. It is considered the gateway to the Tena Valley and, in fact, remains of an ancient Roman road that communicated with it are still preserved.

Biescas is a town in the old middle of the Pyrenees that is located in the Valle de Tena, right where the Gállego river flows. The town with typical mountain buildings is surrounded by the Sierra de Limes, to the east and the Sierra de Tendeñera to the west.
