The church of Andra Mari, dedicated to Saint Mary, is located in Elexalde, the most important neighborhood in the municipality of Galdakao, which gives it its name (eleiz-alde means "next to the church" in Basque). The so-called "coastal road," one of the secondary routes of the Camino de Santiago, once passed through this place. Construction of the church began in the 13th century; its south portal dates from that period, in the Romanesque style with elements that already reflect the transition to Gothic. This first medieval church was expanded in the 16th century, already in the Renaissance style. The altarpiece that presides over its main altar dates from that period.

The route reaches the fourth peak of the UPO at 573 meters above sea level. Admire the views one last time before heading down the valley back to Arrigorriaga.
