Via Verde

The monument commemorates Don Alfonso Molina Padilla, one of the town's most important figures. Born in Colmenar in 1875, Molina Padilla was a lawyer and politician of the liberal left. He represented the Archidona constituency in the Spanish Parliament and dedicated his life to social causes and education. Having no children, he bequeathed his entire fortune to a foundation he established in his will – the "Fundación Molina Padilla – Orfanato de Jesús y Candelaria." The foundation's aim was to provide underprivileged children and young people from Colmenar with access to education. To this day, the foundation awards scholarships to pupils and students, ensuring the continued impact of his work across generations. A monument honoring his legacy was erected in Colmenar, located in the plaza at the end of Calle Camino de Málaga, near Calle La Nora. The statue depicts Don Alfonso Molina Padilla as a symbol of charity and community spirit – values that he deeply rooted in his home community.

The 9.6-meter-high old lighthouse, built in 1929, and the new, approximately 24.7-meter-high lighthouse, built in 1974, are still in operation. It is located directly on the promenade and is visible from afar. Its automatic signal has a range of approximately 13 nautical miles. Inside, 106 steps of an iron staircase lead up to the top. The small, 9-meter-high lighthouse, which stands next to the new "large" one, was built in 1969 but did not meet modern requirements.

Mirador El Boquete is a beautiful viewpoint in Zafarraya, on the border between the provinces of Málaga and Granada. This viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views over the northern part of the Axarquía region of Málaga and the western part of the Sierra de Almijara and Tejeda Natural Parks. The viewpoint is located near the village of Ventas de Zafarraya, which was the last railway station to be built in 1922 and closed in 1960.

The original lighthouse was built in 1864, but due to coastal erosion and other problems, it was rebuilt and relocated several times. The current lighthouse was finally built in its current position in 1976 after several moves. The Torre del Mar lighthouse is not only a functional part of coastal navigation, but also a popular destination for a tour, especially at sunset. The lighthouse is a fine example of the combination of modern technology with the traditions of seafaring along the Spanish coast.
